Portwine Stain Removal Orange County

Port-wine stains are vascular birthmarks that often occur on the face. As a child gets older, he (she) may feel more self-conscious, particularly as the port-wine stain becomes darker and larger. In some patients, Port-wine stains must be treated in order to prevent serious medical problems.

Dr. Yeh was very generous with his time. He answered all of my questions and explained the procedures he would recommend for my cosmetic surgery. When Dr. Yeh said “you don’t want to look different, you want to look refreshed”, I knew we had the same goals in mind. I left Yeh Facial Plastic Surgery confident that I had found the right doctor. Portwine Stain Removal in Orange County and Newport Beach
Port-wine stains – nevus flammeus – resemble maroon-wine colored birth marks that are present at birth. They can be located anywhere on the body but occur most commonly on the face, neck, scalp, arms or legs. During adolescence and adulthood they often change in texture and become thicker, nodular and may cause persistent bleeding or ulceration of the skin. Port-wine stains located near the eye or on the forehead need to be medically monitored as they may also be associated with other neurologic conditions such as Sturge-Weber Syndrome.

Dr. Yeh is a facial plastic & reconstructive surgeon – he is expertly trained in the diagnosis & treatment of vascular birthmarks.

PORT-WINE STAINS TREATMENT:
The treatment of choice for Port-wine stains is a pulsed-dye laser. Laser treatment is often started in infancy when the stain and blood vessels are smaller and the birthmark is easier to treat. The earlier treatment is started – the easier the stain is to treat. Laser therapy is not painful but it can be uncomfortable. Dr. Yeh can use an anesthetic in the form of an injection, spray or topical ointment to numb the treatment area and ensure comfort. A little swelling and bruising, after treatment, is normal and to be expected – but this resolves on its own within just a few days. Laser treatment is the most effective, most advanced treatment today – with the least risk or scarring. Dr. Yeh has specialized training in the use of lasers and is highly skilled in treating Port-wine stains.
